EUCLID welcomes Ambassador George Said-Zammit

EUCLID welcomes Amb. Dr. Prof. George Said-Zammit of the Republic of Malta as professor of Social Sciences. Dr. Said-Zammit was recently appointed and credentialed as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Republic of Georgia.

On 3 September 2021, H.E. Dr George Said Zammit presented his Letters of Credence as non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to H.E. Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia. H.E. Salome Zourabichvili welcomed H.E. Dr George Said Zammit as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Malta to Georgia. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.

Following the ceremony, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia hosted a small reception for the newly appointed non-resident Ambassadors. During this event, H.E. Ambassador Dr George Said Zammit held a brief encounter with H.E. David Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Both sides recalled the excellent diplomatic ties between Malta and Georgia. H.E. David Zalkaliani and H.E. Dr George Said Zammit also touched on further areas for bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism, education, culture and agriculture.

The Presentation of Letters of Credence of H.E. Dr George Said Zammit, as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Georgia, was preceded by the Presentation of the Copies d’Usage of H.E. Dr George Said Zammit to H.E. Vladimir Konstantinidi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on 2 September 2021. A meeting succeeded the ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in Tbilisi. Both H.E. Vladimir Konstantinidi and H.E. Dr George Said Zammit recalled the excellent bilateral relations between Malta and Georgia. Later discussions focused on opportunities for further Maltese-Georgian cooperation in various sectors, gratitude towards Malta’s support for Georgia in the EU Monitoring Mission and Georgia’s territorial integrity, prospects for future political consultations between Malta and Georgia, and increase for scholarships to Georgian diplomats at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC).

Throughout the visit to Tbilisi, H.E. Ambassador Dr George Said Zammit was accompanied by his spouse, as well as by Second Secretary Mr Samuel Bezzina.
