Acute Flaccid Myelitis Research

The EUCLID faculty team is continuing to monitor the ongoing developments of the AFM (acute flaccid myelitis) outbreak in the United States, including seasonality. A major academic paper has been drafted and peer-reviewed but remains on hold as of posting (04/2019). The US Centers for Disease Control (aka CDC) has not as of yet released sufficient data to assess various hypotheses.

The EUCLID faculty position is, at this time, that AFM is best classified as an auto-immune disease for which the trigger remains subject to investigation and research.
